Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella was adamant, following a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders this past Friday night.
Tortorella was in no mood for excuses, after dropping a back-to-back to different Metropolitan foes. He indicated to the media that he was thinking of changing the lines, and that could have been as early as yesterday in practice.
The one line that really concerns Tortorella is the line of Owen Tippett-Morgan Frost-Travis Konecny. Tortorella does not think that Konecny is a match with Tippett and Frost.
It was odd timing, but I think Tortorella was behooved that the offense dried up. The offense has been a roller coaster all season long. One game they score four goals, the next game not so much. In this case, Tortorella knows how critical these games are down the stretch, especially against Metropolitan Divisional foes.
One thing that Tortorella said was that some of the points Konecny scored recently hasn’t come with that line, with Tippett and Frost.
Through all this, Torts hinted at changing lines following lost to the Islanders, but it did not transpire this past Sunday. The lines were as follows at practice in Voorhees, from NBCPhilly’s Jordan Hall:
Tippett-Frost-Konecny
Farabee-Couturier-Michkov
Foerster-Cates-Brink
Laughton-Abols-Hathaway
After all, it looks like the lines won’t change tonight, with a big home and home against another Metropolitan Divisional foe in the New Jersey Devils.
