Joel Farabee’s 2023-24 season can be described as up and down, and he still broke career highs in goals (22), assists (28), and points (50). For his efforts, yesterday Farabee was selected to play for the US National Team at the World Championships.
Farabee said at one point this season, “I honestly felt really good with my body and things like that.” For his efforts, Farabee returned to his old form, as the Flyers tried to remain in the playoffs hunt. Was he inconsistent towards the latter parts of the season, sure, but the entire team was, as well.
The young Farabee took a benching on the chin earlier in the season. He offered no excuses, and took it like a true pro. The benching must have fueled therapy, en route to her career season, even with the inconsistencies towards the latter part of the season.
Philly Joel continues to skate well, and was involved in the play more often than not this past season. Even if he is not scoring goals, Farabee was making the right plays for the eventual goal. His on-ice awareness is key, and his hockey IQ has never wavered. Farabee continues to not only prove to his naysayers that he is healthy, but he is an up and coming star in the NHL.
Congratulations Joel, this nomination is not only an honor, but a well-deserved one

Former Flyer Alex Lyon was also nominated to the team. Remember many thought he wouldn’t be a serviceable goalie in the NHL, so this honor is quite an accomplishment.
