July 29, 2022, was a terrible day for most Philadelphians who grew up loving Jim’s South Street. The unthinkable happened as it burned down, it’s a legacy that stood for 46 years at this particular location that provides great cheesesteaks to the proud Philly faithful and tourists. Guess what folks, they will rebuild, but it will take awhile before it reopens.

Of course, Jim’s comes out on top as the best cheesesteak in Philadelphia. They provided mouth watering cheesesteaks, that was bursting with flavor. Jim’s was voted by Trip Advisor as the “Best of the Best” in 2021. Flyers’ Forward Cam Atkinson’s favorite cheesesteak was Jim’s South Street, and a “Whiz Wit” was his favorite like most Philadelphian’s.

What sets Jim’s South Street apart for most Philly teams are the Flyers faithful. According to Owner Ken Silver when he started sponsoring Flyers Nitty Gritty, the Flyers faithful represents Jim’s the best following games at home. Better than the other major sports teams in Philadelphia to include the Sixers, Phillies, Eagles, and Union. This is one main reason they agreed to be a sponsor to our site.

Our team at Flyers Nitty Gritty is here to help with cleanup efforts if need be, donations, whatever it takes for Jim’s to get back in the community as stated above in the Flyers live video for Jim’s South Street. Ken Silver said they will rebuild, and honestly they will come back better than ever.

Jim’s South Street has a special place in a lot of peoples’ hearts in Philadelphia and abroad. We are here for you Jim’s family, every step of the way. I’m proud to speak on the entire City of Philadelphia when I say that.
