Jett Luchanko has officially made the team on opening night, so there is a lot to be excited about in Flyer Land. If he makes his NHL Debut Friday night, then he will become the youngest Flyer in history to play for the team.

Flyers’ General manager Danny Briere spoke about him today, “There’s guys that were rushed, that never really took the next steps. And there’s guys that were rushed and became amazing players. The one player like that that comes to mind for me is Patrice Bergeron,” Briere said at his opening night presser. Here are the rest of the notes from Briere’s presser earlier today.

  1. “There’s guys that were rushed, that never really took the next steps. And there’s guys that were rushed and became amazing players. The one player like that that comes to mind for me is Patrice Bergeron,” Briere said of the decision to keep Jett Luchanko.
  2. Danny Briere says that Jett Luchanko blew the doors off in training camp. Some of his details are skating. Briere did admit he didn’t think he had a shot at making the roster before camp began.
  3. Briere said he expected more from the Veterans during the exhibition games. He said, “There were too many of you that were a bit too casual during the games.”
  4. Briere also noted that Alexei Kolosov could be loaned back to the KHL. It’s not off the table. He also said Rodrigo Abols should help him language wise.
  5. It appears that the organization will be cautious with Luchanko. He does admit that his development may be rushed with keeping him around, but it may not be in the same token. They will be cautious.
