Jett Luchanko and Alex Bump are indeed traveling with the Philadelphia Flyers’ group for tonight’s pre-season matchup against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre (7:00 p.m. ET puck drop). This is the Flyers’ second preseason game of 2025, following their 3-2 shootout win over the New York Islanders on Sunday.
- Jett Luchanko’s 2025 Pre-Season Debut: The 19-year-old center (born Aug. 21, 2006), selected 13th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, could make his highly anticipated preseason debut tonight. He missed the entire rookie camp (Sept. 10-15) due to a lingering groin injury that also sidelined him from Development Camp in July and the World Junior Summer Showcase. However, he rejoined practices with the main training camp group by Sept. 15, showing strong bursts of speed and playmaking in informal scrimmages. Riley Armstrong noted Luchanko’s deceptive hands and NHL-caliber pace, and he’s been pushing for a roster spot. Last season, he appeared in four NHL games right out of camp before returning to the OHL’s Guelph Storm, where he tallied 56 points (21G, 35A) in 46 games.
- Alex Bump’s Role: The 22-year-old left winger (2024 fourth-round pick, No. 113 overall) has been a standout in rookie camp, on a line with forwards like Denver Barkey and other young guns. He’s drawn praise for his physicality and scoring touch—posting 42 points (20G, 22A) in 64 USHL games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, and he won a National Championship for Western Michigan. Bump skated prominently in camp drills and is likely ticketed for a bottom-six audition.
