Jamie Drysdale is finally healthy, and it’s showing on the. He is more, and just really playing well defensively. Drysdale is rolling over players and throwing players into the boards, while sticking up for his teammates in the process. Lately though, what’s been most impressive is his gap control. Drysdale’s gap control has been excellent, over the course of the past month or so.
Unfortunately, Drysdale has had an injury-riddled career thus far in the NHL. Drysdale hasn’t played many games in the NHL. He knows this, and he looked forward to a healthy offseason to train.
Drysdale said his focus this past offseason was to ensure that some of these injuries don’t happen again. It appeared he was going to work on physical conditioning, but he said he was banged up all year, but he wound up having a big procedure to the core area instead.
Through all this, he continues to get praise from Brad Shaw, “He’s a young defenseman. He’s going to keep improving for quite a while, that’s exciting. I love his game, I thought he was really good. He’s really understanding how to use his feet.”
Maybe Drysdale has turned the corner, in the right direction, with his development. One thing that Drysdale has not forgotten, and continues to praise are the fans, “The crowd’s been amazing, the fans have been great. We got to keep it going here,” Drysdale Said following practice yesterday.
He continues, “When we play our game, cliche, us as this locker room knows how we should play. We match up pretty good against everyone.”
Hopefully, Drysdale continues to make strides with his development. Maybe he could be the rover that Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella says he could end up being.
