Jacob Gaucher, a 23-year-old undrafted Center from Longueuil, Quebec, has been making waves in the Philadelphia Flyers’ system. Standing at 6’3, he signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Flyers on December 12, 2024, after starting the season on an AHL deal.

He’s known for his strong two-way, and Gaucher has been recalled, in the event Sean Couturier misses the game tomorrow night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  • Performance in Minors: In 45 games last season with Lehigh Valley, Gaucher lead the team with 14 goals, adding 13 assists for 27 points and 41 penalty minutes. Gaucher has scored one goal and one assist thus far this season for the Phantoms.
  • Background: Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere praised Gaucher’s journey from the ECHL’s Reading Royals to impressing at training camp and preseason (4 games). Gaucher called it a “dream come true” in a post-recall presser, crediting confidence gained in the AHL.
  • Team Impact: The recall helped during a condensed schedule before the 4 Nations Face-Off, with Gaucher slotting in down the middle amid roster tweaks.

Gaucher’s rapid shuttling between levels shows the Flyers’ investment in his development—he’s the fourth Phantoms player to debut with Philly this season.
