The Flyers three goalie carousel saga continues, with Aleksei Kolosov still with the big club after former Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella was terminated well over a week ago. Ivan Fedotov even played in his first game since March 23, 2025 last week, and garnered his first victory since March 1, 2025 against the Winnipeg Jets.
Fedotov surpassed Aleksei Kolosov in the Goaltending pecking order at one point, and it’s actually quite a story. I mean he went from just skating up and down the ice at practice as the number three netminder, to a starting role sort of speak when Samuel Ersson was injured, to now the backup Goaltender in a matter of just a month, to only being used in emergency situations.

Through all this, Fedotov has remained calm as a cucumber, taking whatever the Flyers decide and throw his way. Even so much so, Fedotov was nominated by the PHWA Bill Masterton’s nominee for the Flyers, “This is a surprise to me,” Fedotov said. “I don’t concentrate about it too much so it’s just a good, good feeling,” said Fedotov. “It’s been my dream all time to play in the NHL. Every kid when he’s growing up probably have a dream to play in the best league in the world. So of course it’s a long way, long road for me. Finally, I’m here where I want to be.”

Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere sounded off on Ivan, when given the news, “Ivan is an ideal choice to represent the Flyers as the Masterton nominee,” said Daniel Briere, Flyers General Manager. “He never gave up on his dream of playing the NHL after being drafted nearly 10 years earlier in the seventh round. However, it is the level of resiliency he displays on a daily basis throughout the season, whether at practice or when called upon to start, that continues to impress me, the coaches and his teammates.”
