It’s been an up and down season for Ivan Fedotov, which happens to be his first full season in the NHL. At times, he looks unbeatable, other times Fedotov allows long range goals, thus losing track of the puck a lot.

At times, Fedotov seems a bit rattled. His reflex times are very slow, and mainly due to his size he has trouble moving post to post. However, there are times where he has been lights out, most notably a big victory in early November against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He outdueled one of the best Goaltenders in the world Andrei Vasilevski.

He looked anything, but the Goaltender in his first six starts when he played the Lightning. Fedotov looked confident, and moved post to post rather well.

“I thought he competed harder, and I don’t think there was extra movement in his game at all. He just seemed more confident,” Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said Post-game. It was an unbelievable game for Fedotov. Sports are weird that way, but shortly after that. He has been relegated to the third string Goaltending role, behind Aleksei Kolosov and Samuel Ersson.

Now Fedotov starts for the first time in 31 days, against a very good Toronto Maple Leafs team. His last start was on December 5, 2024 against the Florida Panthers, to which he was pulled after the first period after allowing two goals.

Finally, he gets his shot to impress, finally. Hopefully, he puts together a 60 minute game, and impresses the Flyers top brass. John Tortorella says the Flyers played well, although the results weren’t there against the Vegas Golden Knights:
