Ivan Fedotov has been up and down as of late. He is just having trouble stringing a couple of good games together, for instance, last Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning he put forth a phenomenal game, with only allowing one goal on 22 shots faced, which was good enough for a .955 Save Percentage.

Then he moves to this past weekend and he could barely stop a beach ball. Fedotov finished the weekend with allowing nine goals on 31 shots faced, which was good enough for a .709 Save Percentage in two starts, to which, he was pulled on Saturday after allowing two goals on three shots faced.
This is a young Flyers team that really needs a good goaltending. It’s a proven fact that a team won’t win this time of year, playoff time, if they don’t have at least one quality starting netminder. At the moment the Flyers are struggling to find a solid starting netminder right now, and that’s mainly due to the inconsistent play by both Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov.

Ersson did, however, play well in relief of Fedotov this past Saturday. I was actually surprised he didn’t get the start yesterday against the Chicago Blackhawks. In Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella’s defense neither goaltender has claimed the net as theirs. Both goalies have been given an opportunity to grab the starting role by the bullhorn, and neither have done it.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Flyers top brass handle this in the offseason. The good thing is Aleksei Kolosov is finally playing well for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Carson Bjarnason and Yegor Zavragin could very well turn professional, and play for the Phantoms, possibly as early as next season.
