Matvei Michkov continues to razzle and dazzle, and continues to impress the Flyers, top brass and fans alike. Alike. He is now officially a point per game player in his rookie season in the NHL
By far, he’s the Calder Trophy favorite
Last night, he registered his ninth multi-point game in his brief NHL career, and it only took him 27 games to do such. He just continues to make plays out of nothing, while springing his teammates for breakaways, or setting up beauties.
“He almost never comes to you with a question,” Flyers’ Associate Coach Rocky Thompson said. “When he comes off the ice, at times in broken English, he’s (Saying he’s trying) trying to improve his game without the puck.”
Michkov has an impressive resume, just turned 20-years-old:
Leads the NHL in scoring by a rookie with 27 points
Leads the NHL in goals by a rookie with 11
Has 27 points in 27 games played (11g,16a)
Has scored three overtime winners in just 27 games
Nine multi point games
1 Three point game
Flyers fans are not used to having a superstar in their lineup. Just imagine what Michkov will do when he gets an elite Center to play with. He just wants to win games.
They need to focus on winning, and with that–it appears the team has found an identity. Hopefully, they
