A talented player like Michkov is exactly what John Tortorella and Danny Briere have been preaching about and clamoring about for the past few seasons, “We need more high-end talent.” That’s what Michkov is, an elite level talent that can take over a game with the blink of an eye.
Michkov really found his niche with Sochi. He’s that scoring threat that people remember with Eric Lindros, and his hands are pretty slick. Michkov likes to attempt the Michigan, and it will drive John Tortorella nuts when he makes the Flyers, but it’s all and good fun.

He was still under contract for two more years with SKA, until he terminated his contract with SKA over a month ago. This enabled him to sign his ELC (Entry-Level-Contract) with Philadelphia about a month ago.
Today, he landed at JFK Airport, approximately two months before training camp is set to begin. Michkov was embraced by Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere and President of the organization in Keith Jones. He was seen donning a Phillies hat, which shows he is embracing Philadelphia. I wonder if he could throw out the first pitch at the Phillies game on Friday night, which just so happens to be Trea Turner night.
I’m sure Cam York, Tyson Foerster, Jamie Drysdale, Bobby Brink, and Joel Farabee will make him feel like home when he officially arrives in Voorhees.
Flyers fans deserve Michkov, and they have been craving a player like Michkov for years. The proud orange faithful have weathered the storm, now it’s time for the Flyers to take the next step of the rebuild.
