At times it’s hard to believe that Carter Hart is only 24-years-old. He really acts mature on and off the ice, and it happened again yesterday against the Vancouver Canucks. Hart paid homage to the late Ray Emery, a goaltender who obviously was a big portion of his career, with a great set of pads. These pads looked like the ones that “Razor” Ray Emery once wore.
On June 10, 2009, the Flyers signed Ray Emery to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, to which it ended in injury and unfortunately completed his tenure with the Flyers at first. However, Emery would return for a backup role behind Steve Mason in 2013, and during this tenure it included a brawl with the Washington Capitals. He went after opposing Goaltender Braden Holtby, who was uninterested in fighting, but the Flyers were getting smoked at the time so Emery took liberty on Holtby. Fir his efforts, Emery signed on for another one-year deal with the Flyers for the same backup role the following season.
Emery spent a total of three seasons with the Flyers compiling a record of 35-34-10 in 88 games played. On July 15, 2018, Emery was out swimming with friends in Hamilton, Ontario. He jumped off a boat, and his friends began to call emergency services when he did not resurface. His body was found at approximately 2:50pm that same day. Emery had passed away from drowning, and the police concluded their investigation as an unfortunate circumstance.

To this day, we salute the late Ray Emery, and obviously Hart does as well. Emery will always be known for his role as an enforcer from a Goaltender, to being a fan favorite everywhere he went.
