When the Flyers drafted Carter Hart in 2016, they were hoping that he would become a goaltender that they could rely on in the future. Well, the 2021 Flyers team will rely on Hart to right the ship from a season to forget that was the 2020-21 season.

Hart, finally got a shot to make an imprint with the orange and black in 2018-19, and boy did he deliver. He became known as the Goaltender of the future following that season, after he posted a 16-13 record, 2.83 GAA, and a .917 Save Percentage.

The fact is Hart has become a staple with the Flyers. He is a perfectionist, good with rebound control, and moves laterally post to post well. Hart wears his heart on his sleeve, and if he has a bad game he will tell you he had a bad game. He was phenomenal on the 2020-21 playoffs posting a 9-5 record, 2.23 GAA, and a. 926 Save Percentage. This past season he was hit hard with Covid with being lonely during quarantine, ad that could have affected his mental state and game, “I think just this year, it was it was challenging for everybody,” Hart said at exit interviews. “Tough circumstances with COVID and everything. Some guys it didn’t affect them and others more than others. It was a little bit difficult this year when you live alone and stuff and you just go back and forth from the rink to your apartment every day. But near the end, things were getting a lot better, I was hanging out with the boys a lot more, some of the boys were inviting me over for dinners. Just little things like that make it so much easier in, a weird year.”

“I believe in myself and I believe that I can be a top goaltender in this league. I’m just looking forward to a great offseason of training, get settled back in with my family and friends and get a good plan going forward for this offseason.” – Carter Hart

Hart can provide a much needed spark to this club, and he can still be recognized as the Goaltender of the future for this young Flyers team. His three-year ($3.9 million AAV) is a well earned one for Hart. With this signing, the Flyers now have Travis Sanheim to lockup, and that would complete the offseason for the orange and black.
