The season is upon us, where sports are fading away and there isn’t much to talk about. That being said, I happened to step into an establishment in Newtown, PA. I was sitting there ready to order my dinner, and a bartender approaches me with a New Jersey Devils tattoo that was visible. We immediately started a debate. What do you think of Claude Giroux?
The debate had started and clearly, the (hometown kid not me) was against the Captain in the BIGGEST way. The bartender named Conor Wegimont at “Clubhouse Bar and
Grill” appears to not think too much of the Flyers Captain.
“He Doesn’t have the heart, he hasn’t played to his potential in years, it’s time to move on.”
Even fans from PA are still having the debate that Giroux must go, but not me. It’s a difficult topic to discuss, for years Giroux has led the team as their captain and the locals still aren’t on board. It’s a difficult time in New Jersey for Devils fans as they are not playing to their potential, all the while with having some top
picks. It was a great conversation I got to have with Conor- a true hockey fan.
That being said, he did agree on one
thing which was a huge turnaround for the conversation:
I asked Conor this, “Would you take Claude Giroux on your
team?.”
His answer, “Right now, Well, Yeah absolutely”.
I rest my case.
Great spot here in Newtown,PA. Get out to the “Clubhouse Bar and Grill” on 501 South state street, and go to see Conor and Emily at the bar.
Take him on your team? At his cap hit? Please take him! He has never won a thing, either individually or team.
He disappears in the playoffs (when we actually make them) he takes entire weeks off at a stretch, he’s a horrible captain.
Team Canada made him a 4th line healthy scratch. Long past time for Giroux to go.
I’m with Flyersguy. Giroux is well past his time. Can we get him to drop his NTC and let Seattle have a Krak at him? Giroux stopped scoring a long time ago. If he hits the 20 goal mark in 2021/22, it would surprise me. Listen, Giroux WAS a very good player, but that was years ago. Along with Jake, JVR and now Ellis, we have four aging, overpaid players in Philly and a GM that seems clueless when judging talent. The Flyers have no quality at the center ice position, no sniper on the wings and only a better than average defense.
Few stars want to come to Philly anymore and I blame that on the owner of this team:Comcast. Look at Comcast and how it treats its cable Customers and then look at the Flyers. They, like the awful Phillies, are nothing more than a part of the Comcast cable lineup. People are overpaying for a mediocre cable product and that includes the Flyers and Phillies. These teams are simply business expenses and tax write offs. When Ed Snider passed away, the Flyers may have died too. How sad.
