Kevin Hayes skated in his 600th NHL game last night, as he became the fifth Massachusetts native to reach this milestone since entering the NHL in 2014-15, per the Flyers.

For his efforts, Hayes tallied two Power Play Goals, thus giving him 15 goals and 28 assists on the season, which is six points away from his career best of 49 points. Hayes proved worthy of his All-Star nomination last night, as he appears to be confident as the team is about to enter the break for the All-Star Game.

This will be Hayes’s first All-Star appearance, and he’s putting forth a solid season point wise. He’s been up and down defensively, and he was in the doghouse for a little bit there but Hayes has apparently put that behind him which is a good thing, “I mean hockey’s a weird game where you get a chance, you should have scored and then you miss,” Hayes said following the game. “A goal that’s kind of a little unlikely, it goes in. Those are kind of at practice, warmups and working on that stuff, but sometimes it happens in the game.”

Hayes continues, “We dug ourselves a hole there in the first and then a couple unlucky bounces when we’re down three-nothing. Then we get a huge goal at the end. It gives us some life. We come back and tie it, feeling good about ourselves. Then we’re down again. We have to come back and couldn’t do it tonight.”

Ivan Provorov netted the first goal for the Flyers last night, as they marched back and eventually tied the game at three a piece. Provorov also took a puck up high to the facial area, and he laid on the ice for about a minute. The Philly faithful cheered and gave him a standing ovation as he was able to get up and head to the bench.

That was an important part of the game. I know some fans are still disappointed with Provorov not wearing the Pride Jersey on Pride night. Some could have booed as he skated off the ice, but the loyal fan base cheered as he was able to get up off the ice after being hurt.

The Philadelphia fanbase takes a beating at times from the media for certain situations. This was one of those situations that should have been covered by many media outlets, but it was not. It’s not a story, unless Flyers fans booed Provorov as he was laying on the ice in obvious pain. Fortunately, he was ok and remained in the game the rest of the way. This was pure class by the Philly faithful and it shall be recognized.

The Flyers are off today, and will not practice in Voorhees, NJ until after the All-Star break. They will, however, have one final morning skate tomorrow at 1030am in the morning in Voorhees to get the blood going.

  1. !@#$% media blew this up over nothing. If Provorov were anything but Christian nobody would’ve said a word.
