This week is all about Claude Giroux, as he becomes the second player in Flyers history to eclipse the 1,000 game mark. Of course, the only player to this point to clips the thousand game mark is Bobby Clarke.

The Flyers are really pulling out all the stops to make Thursday night a special one for Giroux and his family. On Monday the media heard from Scott Hartnell, Ian Laperrière, and Sean Couturier in regards to they’re playing time with Giroux.

Hartnell said Giroux arm wrestled Craig Berube “The Chief” at one time. He said it happened at a bar in Nashville, to which inadvertently he was the ref. Giroux originally thought Berube would win easily, but then he slammed Berube’s arm down for the victory.

Couturier says even if it’s bowling or cards, Giroux just wants to win. Ironically enough yesterday the Flyers PR Zack Hill send me pictures from a bowling event in 2014, to which Giroux was fist pumping Eagles Center Jason Kelce, it just appeared the two were having a good time:

What’s pretty neat is that the Flyers will honor Giroux with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches being sold in sections 107 and 221, along with the Center City Club and Press Row. Grilled cheese is Giroux’s favorite food, so this is pretty classy and unique of the Flyers. Who doesn’t like an ole’ fashioned grilled cheese served with a carton of milk, or grilled cheese served with a fresh bowl of tomato soup.

We will be featuring these type of stories about Giroux all week long. Giroux will become just the second player in Flyers history to eclipse the 1,000 game mark, so this is a special week.
