TRADE ALERT: The Flyers have acquired defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Cutter Gauthier.

Cutter Gauthier informed the Flyers organization that he did not want to sign with the Flyers. Gauthier apparently informed the Flyers that he did not to play for them following the 2022-23 WJC Tournament, per Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere. Danny Briere kept things quiet in case he changed his mind, and even went to Sweden to talk to Gauthier with Keith Jones, but Gauthier refused to talk to them.

“He told us he didn’t want to be a Flyer. If you don’t want to be a Flyer, then you’re not going to be a Flyer,” Keith Jones said on the Flyers broadcast. ““He looked at us at the draft and told us that he was built to be a Flyer, wanted to be a Flyer. A few months later, he told us that he didn’t want to be a Flyer,” Danny Briere said.

Cutter Gauthier wouldn’t answer phone calls with Danny Briere or Keith Jones. Like come on man, that’s pretty childish. Gauthier hasn’t played one game in the AHL or NHL, and yet he acts likes this!! Wow.

Jamie Drysdale can be a 1A/1B Defenseman, so this is a good deal for the orange and black. Briere wasted no time and moved Gauthier before he became handcuffed with him.
