The Philadelphia Flyers took on the New York Rangers Saturday afternoon in a matinee at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. Aleksei Kolosov got the start in net, and there were no changes to the lineup. The Flyers losing streak grew to six with a six-three loss. Kolosov was pulled after allowing three goals on three shots, and Mika Zibanejad recorded a hat trick. The orange and black dropped to 22-17-8 on the season.

Travis Konecny gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at the 6:22 mark of the first period. Trevor Zegras fed him with a cross-ice pass, and Konecny put a snapshot under the blocker of Rangers goaltender Spencer Martin from the right circle. Zegras and Travis Sanheim tallied assists.

Artemi Panarin tied the game up at one at the 7:05 mark of the first. Vincent Trocheck found a loose puck in a scrum and fed Panarin with a pass to the left circle. Panarin then put a snapshot into a wide-open net. Trocheck and Alexis Lafreniere picked up assists.

The Rangers took a 2-1 lead just 21 seconds later, courtesy of Zibanejad. He took a pass from J.T. Miller and put a snapshot under the glove of Kolosov from the high slot. Miller and Braden Schneider were given assists.

The goals kept on coming for the Rangers as Brennan Othmann scored his first in the NHL at the 8:25 mark of the first period to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead. The Rangers went on a three-on-one. Othmann took a pass from Will Cuylle and put a snapshot over the glove of Kolosov from the right circle. Cuylle received the lone assist.

Sam Ersson took over in net for Kolosov after the third Rangers goal. The Rangers scored three goals on three shots.

The Flyers got the game’s first power play at the 10:02 mark of the first as Cuylle got called for roughing. They didn’t record any shots on net as they struggled to win puck battles. Noah Laba had a chance while shorthanded as he went on a two-on-one with Sam Carrick.

The Rangers got their first power play just 44 seconds into the second period as Matvei Michkov was called for tripping. Ersson came up with a big save on Panarin, and the Flyers did a nice job of knocking down passes and clearing the puck down the ice.

Ersson got called for delay of game (puck over glass) at the 3:44 mark of the second, which gave the Rangers their second power play. The Rangers capitalized as Zibanejad scored his second goal of the game to give the Rangers a 4-1 lead. He took a cross-ice pass from Panarin and put a snapshot over the glove of Ersson. Assists went to Panarin and Trocheck.

Zibanejad collected a hat trick as he scored his third goal at the 8:25 mark of the second period. Miller’s pass went under the stick of Jamie Drysdale and straight to the stick of Zibanejad. Zibanejad finished with a snapshot past the glove of Ersson. Miller and Scott Morrow tallied assists.

The game went to four-on-four at the 9:12 mark of the second as Emil Andrae was called for roughing and Othmann for cross-checking. Martin made saves on Konecny and Michkov, and Panarin had a chance as he drove the net but couldn’t get a shot off.

The Rangers took a 6-1 lead at the 14:31 mark of the second period thanks to Panarin. He took a pass from Lafreniere and put a snapshot over the glove of Ersson from the left circle. Lafreniere was given the lone assist.

Nikita Grebenkin got called for tripping at the 15:22 mark of the second. This gave the Rangers their third power play. The Flyers did a nice job of clearing the puck down, and Ersson made some saves on Trocheck and Lafreniere from in tight. However, Travis Sanheim scored a shorthanded goal at the 16:48 mark. Sanheim and Konecny went on a two-on-one. Konecny fed Sanheim with a pass, and he put a snapshot past the glove of Martin from the right circle. 6-2 Rangers. Konecny was given the only assist.

Zegras cut the Rangers lead in half at the 8:01 mark of the third period. Owen Tippett’s pass went off the skate of Urho Vaakanainen and straight to Zegras. Zegras then put a wrist shot into a wide-open net. 6-3 Rangers. Denver Barkey and Tippett picked up assists.

Flyers went zero for one on the power play and killed off two of the three Rangers’ man advantages.

Kolosov saved 0 of 3 shots, giving him a .000 save percentage. Ersson saved 22 of 25 shots in replacement.
