It’s the last game before the NHL Trade deadline for the Flyers. They’d face the Winnipeg Jets for a second time in just five days. After getting walloped by the Calgary Flames Tuesday night, it’s vital that the Flyers get back on the winning track and keep collecting points. The Jets got their revenge as they cruised by the Flyers 4-1. No one was supporting each other and penalties proved to be costly. The Flyers are now 27-28-8 on the season.

The Jets got the game’s first power play at the 7:47 mark of the first period as Matvei Michkov was called for goaltender interference. They’d capitalize on the opprtunity at the 8:32 mark. Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson made the inital save on Gabriel Vilardi but allowed a rebound. That rebound made its way to Mark Scheifele who put a backhander under Ersson’s right arm. Vilardi and Kyle Connor collected assists.

Tyson Foerster was called for tripping at the 14:30 mark of the first period which gave the Jets their second power play. The’d yet again capitalize courtesy of Nikolaj Ehlers at the 15:13 mark. He recieved a nice cross-ice pass from Scheifele in front and put a wrist shot past the right pad of Ersson. Scheifele and Vilardi tallied assists.

Connor gave the Jets a 3-0 lead at the 5:28 mark of the second period. He took a cross-ice pass from Scheifele and sped into the Flyers zone off the rush. He managed to get a wrist shot under the right arm of Ersson. Scheifele and Vilardi were given assists.

Adam Lowry gave the Jets a 4-0 lead at the 9:03 mark of the second period. Mason Appleton found him all alone in front from the side of the net and Lowry put a wrist shot into the wide open net. Appleton and Nino Niederreiter picked up assists.

The Flyers got their first power play at the 18:11 mark of the second period as Niederreiter got called for elbowing. They didn’t get on the board but Jets goaltender Eric Comrie had to make a big save on Jamie Drysdale through a screen by Noah Cates.

Michkov got the Flyers on the board at the 17:18 mark of the third period. He went on a two-on-one with Sean Couturier and put a snapshot over the left shoulder of Comrie. The goal was unassisted.

The Flyers went 0 for 1 on the power play and couldn’t kill off either of the two Jets man advantages.

Ersson struggled in net once again. He saved 23 of 27 shots, giving him a .852 save percentage.
