The Philadelphia Flyers took their three-game winning streak back home Thursday night as they took on the Utah Mammoth. Dan Vladar got the start in net. Nick Seeler was out due to injury, so Noah Juulsen jumped in on defense. The Flyers winning streak would snap at three with a three-zero shutout loss. They had minimal chances throughout the night, but couldn’t score any goals. The orange and black dropped to 28-22-11 on the season.

The Flyers got the game’s first power play at the 14:33 mark of the first period as John Marino was called for slashing. They didn’t record a single shot on net, and the Mammoth were able to clear the puck down a few times. The passing was not crisp and was a huge factor in this game.

The Mammoth went on their first power play just 1:30 into the second period as Noah Cates got called for holding the stick. It only took eight seconds for Nick Schmaltz to capitalize. Dylan Guenther found him just below the left circle, and Schmaltz put a snapshot past the blocker of Vladar. 1-0 Mammoth. Guenther and Sean Durzi tallied assists.

Clayton Keller gave the Mammoth a 2-0 lead at the 8:03 mark of the second. He took a pass from Guenther and put a backhander through the legs of Vladar as he drove the net. Guenther and Schmaltz picked up assists.

The Flyers received their second power play at the 4:02 mark of the third period as Durzi was called for holding. Mammoth goaltender Vitek Vanecek only had to make one save on Trevor Zegras, and Jamie Drysdale had a shot blocked by Schmaltz. The Mammoth also did their job of clearing the puck down the ice to waste time.

Clayton Keller got called for high-sticking at the 6:38 mark of the third, which gave the Flyers their third power play. However, with 1:13 to go, Zegras was called for hooking. The game went to four-on-four, and then the Mammoth got an abbreviated power play. Bobby Brink had a tip-in try go above the crossbar before the Zegras penalty. Vladar made a save on J.J. Peterka off his mask, and Vanecek made a save on Grundstrom on the four-on-four. The Mammoth had quite a few chances while on the power play, but Vladar had all the answers.

Vladar was pulled with 3:15 remaining in the third period in favor of the extra attacker with the Flyers down by two. It backfired, however, as Michael Carcone scored an empty-netter at the 18:12 mark. Kevin Stenlund missed the empty net wide, but Carcone was the first to the puck, and he put it in. This gave the Mammoth a 3-0 lead. Stenlund and Marino were given assists.

Flyers went zero for three on the power play and killed off one of the two Mammoth man advantages.

Vladar saved 20 of 22 shots, giving him a .909 save percentage.
