Cam York returned from injury, so Ty Murchison became a healthy scratch. The Flyers fell behind 2-0 early but came back to tie it. Unfortunately, they’d lose in a shootout in back-to-back games. The orange and black fell to 16-9-10 on the season.

The Hurricanes got their second power play at the 15:00 mark of the first period as Nikita Grebenkin got called for roughing. They’d capitalize on this opportunity thanks to Taylor Hall. He deflected Alexander Nikishin’s shot from the blue line through the legs of Vladar. This gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead. Nikishin and Jackson Blake picked up assists.

Garnet Hathaway was called for delay of game (puck over glass) at the 16:32 mark of the first period. This gave the Hurricanes their third power play. Vladar made a few huge saves from in front, and York helped out by blocking two shots.

Flyers had scoring chances as there was a scrum in front of Bussi, and they managed to get two shots on him. However, with 48 seconds remaining, Drysdale got called for hooking. The game went to four-on-four, and then the Hurricanes got an abbreviated power play. The Flyers were able to intercept a few passes and clear the puck down the ice to waste time on the Hurricanes’ power play.

The Flyers, again, ruined having a full power play as Cates got called for tripping with 56 seconds remaining. Both teams had scoring chances off the rush, and the Flyers had three shorthanded opportunities on the penalty kill but couldn’t get any shots past Bussi.
The Flyers pulled Vladar with 2:16 remaining in the third in favor of the extra attacker with the team down by one. It paid off as Zegras managed to tie the game up at two. Travis Konecny, from the left circle, fed Zegras with a pass to the right circle, and he put a snapshot past the blocker of Bussi. Assists went to Konecny and Christian Dvorak.
No one else scored in regulation, so the game went to overtime. Bobby Brink got called for tripping just 42 seconds into the overtime period. This gave the Hurricanes their sixth power play. The Hurricanes missed on a few shots just wide, and Vladar had to make a huge save on Shayne Gostisbehere to keep the game going.
The game then went to a shootout. The Flyers sent out Zegras, Dvorak, and Michkov, and the Hurricanes sent out Jarvis, Svechnikov, and Blake. Svechnikov was the only one to score, giving the Hurricanes a three-two victory.
