The Philadelphia Flyers started up their fifth set of back-to-back games this season and played their last home game of 2025 Tuesday night as they took on the Vancouver Canucks. Dan Vladar got the start in net. Christian Dvorak returned from injury and was inserted into the lineup. Nicolas Deslauriers became a healthy scratch. They’d score the first goal and never looked back. The offense got going, and Vladar was stellar all game long. The orange and black improved to 18-10-7 on the season.

The Canucks got the game’s first power play at the 10:52 mark of the first period as Dvorak was called for holding the stick. Rodrigo Abols had a scoring chance while shorthanded, and the Canucks didn’t record any shots on net. The Flyers also did a nice job of clearing the puck down the ice.

The Flyers got their first power play at the 13:51 mark of the first as Tyler Myers got called for holding. They had quite a few chances from in tight, but Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko had all the answers. Denver Barkey had two scoring chances right in front of the net.

Barkey was called for slashing at the 19:11 mark of the first period, which gave the Canucks their second power play. Vladar had to make a big save on Jake DeBrusk from in tight, and the Flyers again did their job of clearing the puck down.

Nikita Grebenkin gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at the 13:13 mark of the second period. He deflected Emil Andrae’s shot from the blue line through the legs of Demko. Andrae and Abols tallied assists.

The Flyers took a 2-0 lead at the 5:58 mark of the third period courtesy of Carl Grundstrom. He collected his own rebound and put a snapshot past the blocker of Demko. A few good moves along the boards and a nice pass by Grebenkin helped set the play up. Grebenkin and Abols picked up assists.

Dvorak made it 3-0 Flyers at the 7:49 mark of the third. Trevor Zegras’ shot went off the boards and bounced out in front of the net. Dvorak was able to bat the puck out of the air into the net while keeping his stick below the crossbar. Zegras and Travis Konecny were given assists.

The Canucks got on the board at the 13:05 mark of the third period thanks to Max Sasson. Conor Garland fed Sasson with a pass as he was driving the net. Sasson then put a wrist shot through the legs of Vladar. Assists went to Garland and Myers.

The goals continued to come for the Flyers as Owen Tippett made it 4-1 Flyers at the 15:35 mark of the third. He made a nice move around Tom Willander and put a snapshot over the blocker of Demko. Cam York received the lone assist.

Demko was pulled with 2:25 left in the third period in favor of the extra attacker with the Canucks down by three. It backfired, however, as Matvei Michkov scored an empty-netter at the 18:49 mark. He took a pass from Noah Cates and put a wrist shot into the empty net from the neutral zone. Cates tallied the lone assist.

Drew O’Connor added one more goal for the Canucks with 58 seconds to go in the game. Zeev Buium made a nice pass, and O’Connor put a snapshot past the blocker of Vladar. Buium and Elias Pettersson picked up assists.
