With the NHL trade deadline over with, it’s time for the Philadelphia Flyers to jump back into action. What better way to do that than with a set of back-to-back games? They started it off with a matinee against the Seattle Kraken. With Scott Laughton being traded, Rodrigo Abols and Olle Lycksell were recalled for Lehigh Valley and inserted into the lineup. Emil Andrae was also inserted with head coach John Tortorella giving Cam York a rest. They’d lose their third straight game with a four-to-one loss. With five power-play opportunities and sloppy play all afternoon, this was a brutal loss for the team. The Flyers are now 27-29-8 on the season.

The Flyers got the game’s first power play at the 4:02 mark of the first period, as Matty Beniers was called for high-sticking. They had a few great chances in tight, and Noah Cates rang a puck off the crossbar. They managed to get two shots on goal.
Jamie Oleksiak got called for hooking at the 7:37 mark of the first period, which gave the Flyers their second power play. The Flyers got three shots on net, but Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer was able to see them all. The Kraken did a nice job getting into shooting lanes.

The Flyers got their third power play at the 14:37 mark of the first period, as Andre Burakovsky was called for slashing. Nothing much happened on this one. No shots on goal were recorded, and the Kraken did a nice job clearing the puck when given the opportunity.
Owen Tippett gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at the 19:28 mark of the first period. Matvei Michkov made a pass to him in center ice, and Tippett used his speed to get into the Kraken zone. He skated around a Kraken player on the backhand, and as he went to the forehand, the puck bounced off Ryker Evans’s stick and Tippett’s arm. The puck ended up in the net after going under the right arm of Grubauer. Michkov and Sean Couturier collected assists.

The Kraken got their first power play as the first period came to an end, as Olle Lycksell got called for holding. They only got one shot on net, but Shane Wright came very close to scoring as he received a pass just in front of Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson.
Tye Kartye tied the game up at one at the 10:11 mark of the second period. He took the puck around the Flyers net and put a snapshot from just above the left circle over the left shoulder of Ersson. Vince Dunn received the only assist.
The Flyers got their fourth power play at the 17:09 mark of the second period as Mikey Eyssimont was called for tripping. It was short-lived, however, as Couturier was called for hooking at the 17:27 mark. This made it four-on-four. Both teams had a few good chances, but neither team was able to score.
Beniers gave the Kraken a 2-1 lead at the 18:57 mark of the second period. He won a puck battle along the boards, skated the puck to the front of the net, and managed to get a snapshot through Ersson. Evans and Adam Larsson tallied assists.
Brandon Montour was called for slashing at the 19:10 mark of the second period, which gave the Flyers their fifth power play. Chandler Stephenson gave the Kraken a 3-1 lead at 28 seconds later with a shorthanded goal. He went on a breakaway and put a snapshot over the left shoulder of Ersson. No assists were given.
Montour gave the Kraken a 4-1 lead at the 3:55 mark of the third period. Beniers won the faceoff to him off the boards, and Montour put a slapshot over the blocker of Ersson. Beniers was given the lonely assist.
Couturier was called for tripping at the 15:43 mark of the third period, which gave the Kraken their third power play. Beniers rang one off the crossbar, and the Kraken had a few other good chances around the net.
The Flyers went 0 for 5 on the power play but managed to kill off all three of the Kraken’s man advantages.
Ersson had another tough game in net. He saved 28 of 32 shots, giving him a .875 save percentage.
