The Philadelphia Flyers took on the New Jersey Devils in their second game of a back-to-back on home ice. Emil Andrae was a healthy scratch, and Cam York was inserted into the lineup. Ivan Fedotov got the start in net for this one. The Flyers are currently riding a three-game losing streak, and it’s coming at a horrible time. They’re still alive but need to get things going quickly. They’d lose a close one to the Devils and the losing streak increased to four. Jamie Drysdale scored late, but the Flyers couldn’t tie it up. They’re now 27-30-8 on the season.

Cody Glass gave the Devils a 1-0 lead at the 11:10 mark of the first period. Stefan Noesen’s pass took a lucky bounce off the skate of Nick Seeler and straight to Glass. Glass then put a wrist shot over the blocker of Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov. Noesen and Luke Hughes collected assists.

The Devils took a 2-0 lead at the 5:39 mark of the second period courtesy of Erik Haula. Johnathan Kovacevic’s shot was blocked in front but Haula found it and put a wrist shot into a wide open net. Kovacevic and Brenden Dillon tallied assists.

The Flyers got the game’s first power play at the 10:32 mark of the third period as Noesen was called for tripping. They had trouble getting set up in the offensive zone and only recorded one shot on net. The Devils did a great job of stealing and clearing the puck.

Jamie Drysdale got the Flyers on the board and within one at the 15:14 mark of the third period. Travis Konecny made a nice pass from center ice and Drysdale put a wrist shot stick-side on Devils goaltender Jake Allen. Konecny and Tyson Foerster were given assists.

Travis Sanheim was called for cross-checking at the 18:30 mark of the third period which gave the Devils their first power play. The Flyers pulled Fedotov with 28 seconds remaining to try and tie the game up but it didn’t work. Instead, Dawson Mercer scored an empty-netter to make the score 3-1 Devils. The puck found him off the faceoff and he sent it down into the empty net. Haula and Ondrej Palat picked up assists.

The Flyers went 0 for 1 on the power play and couldn’t kill off the only Devils man advantage.

Fedotov had a decent afternoon and kept the Flyers in the game. He saved 20 of 22 shots, giving him a .909 save percentage.
