The Philadelphia Flyers traveled home to take on the Dallas Stars Sunday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena for their second game of a back-to-back. Sam Ersson got the start in net, and there were no changes to the lineup. The Flyers continued to pick up valuable points with a two-to-one overtime victory. Both teams only scored once in the second period and nothing more. Trevor Zegras played hero to seal the deal. The orange and black improved to 37-24-12 on the season.

The Flyers got the game’s first power play at the 3:34 mark of the first period as Wyatt Johnston was called for tripping. Denver Barkey rang a shot off the post, and Arttu Hyry had a chance while shorthanded, but Ersson made the easy save. The Stars also did their job of clearing the puck down the ice when given the opportunity.
The Stars went on their first power play at the 10:41 mark of the first as Sean Couturier got called for holding the stick. They didn’t record any shots on net, but missed on a few shots just wide from in tight. The Flyers were able to clear the puck down a few times as well.
Mikko Rantanen was called for high-sticking at the 8:00 mark of the second period, which gave the Flyers their second power play. They’d capitalize courtesy of Travis Konecny. He took a pass from Matvei Michkov and put a wraparound try just past the left skate of Stars goaltender Casey DeSmith.1-0 Flyers. Michkov and Rasmus Ristolainen tallied assists.
The Flyers received their third power play at the 16:27 mark of the second as Johnston got called for hooking. DeSmith made a big glove save on Michkov, and that’s about it. The Stars, again, were able to clear the puck down a few times. However, Hyry scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game up at one at the 17:53 mark. Barkey turned the puck over to Hyry, and he put a snapshot over the glove of Ersson from the left circle. The goal was unassisted.

Zegras was called for tripping at the 17:12 mark of the third period. This gave the Stars their second man advantage. Ersson came up with a huge pad save on Johnston, and the Flyers did their job of clearing the puck down the ice to waste time.
No one else scored in regulation, so the game went to overtime. Zegras played hero and won the game for the Flyers at the 3:27 mark of the overtime period. He took a pass from Cam York, got around Rantanen, took the puck up the ice, and put a snapshot through the legs of DeSmith from the right circle. York and Ersson picked up assists.
Flyers went one for three on the power play and killed off both of the Stars’ man advantages.
Ersson saved 17 of 18 shots, giving him a .944 save percentage.
