The season is upon us, as in the offseason. So far we have crowned a returning Stanley Cup champion as the Tampa Bay Lightning won
back to back championships. The NHL welcomed a new team to the league in the Seattle Kraken, and the NHL Draft took place welcoming the future of the league. With all that being said, it’s time to welcome a new series where we sit with Flyers fans to get their perspective on the season, and talk about some of their favorite moments and players.

First up we would like to welcome John Ferris from Clementon, NJ. John owns his own
landscaping company with his cousin called “JBLandscaping and management.” We sat and discussed some really cool memories and his take on the disappointing season.

Season Overview

One of the main topics of discussion was the overview of the season. What did John think of it?

“I had High expectations, I was very surprised by what happened this year. They had won the round robin series the year before and looked great. When they played the New York Islanders, they were too fast and they couldn’t keep up. It was very similar to this year. The defense is a
huge issue, and they have to bring in a guy who can shut down players. They seem to focus on offensive defenseman, but need a Defensive Dman. Missing Matt Niskanen this season was tough. One of the big downfalls was The Lake Tahoe game, it was a true game changer. Overall, the division didn’t work well with us , we played some really tough matchups. There seemed to be a locker room issue as well. Locker room issues could be an issue.”

Favorite Flyers moment

A memorable moment for sure this was, as we watched highlights from this great game. I had asked John what his best Flyers moment was and he had a heck of an answer, “Wow, what a question. My best moment would have to be when I attended the stadium series. It was the Penguins vs the Flyers. We knew it could be Simmonds’ last game as a Flyer. They forced overtime, where Claude Giroux scored the game winner. The back and forth was excellent, the last four minutes of that game was so exciting- with a game tying goal by Voracek. Finally, the winning goal from Giroux What an awesome game it was!”

Favorite Flyer (current or past)

The question all fans love to answer, who is your favorite player?

“My all time favorite player would have to be Simon Gagne. He had a fantastic wrist shot and always knew where to be.”

What do you think of the new additions and expectations for this coming season?

Getting Ryan Ellis was a big piece and a huge addition for Provorov. The defense has to show up for 60 minutes. If they can bring in a top scoring threat to pair with Giroux, not only will they make the playoffs, but they can make a deep run. That’s what we all want to see. I like to
see them bring an enforcer as well, someone who can take the body well and stand up for his teammates.

Congrats to John and his new fiancee. John got engaged this past weekend. That’s my story and i’m sticking to it
