This young Flyers team is starving for leaders to emerge, and none have come to the forefront. They are starving for someone to step up, asides from Owen Tippett, but no one has. I guess one can make a case for Kevin Hayes as he has netted five goals and 13 assists in 18 games played. The fact of the matter is this team is trying, they are giving effort, but the results are just not there right now, hence their six game losing streak (7-7-4 record).
“I’m not mad, I’m frustrated for them. I’m still still trying to figure out who’s who, and who to keep.” – John Tortorella said following the game at Montreal
“They are trying, they are freaking trying,” said Tortorella following the game against the Habs. There is fight with this club, but the orange and black lack talent. If this team is down Scott Laughton on Monday, then they are in big trouble, especially with missing key parts already with the likes of Sean Couturier, Cam Atkinson, Travis Konecny, Ryan Ellis, Wade Allison, and James van Riemsdyk. Flyers’General Manager Chuck Fletcher would be forced to make a move, to which he is already trying to do such.

They are now enduring a six game losing streak, and were 1.9 seconds of victory until Cole Caulfield tied the game. This had every Flyers fan thinking back to the 2019 NHL Draft where the Flyers passed on Caulfield not once, but twice. Of course, the Flyers eventually the Flyers lost in a shootout 5-4, thanks to a double ping of the post. Morgan Frost was trying to equalize the shootout at one a piece. He made a nice move and Frost tried sliding the puck behind Jake Allen but it went ping on the first post, while the puck went ping on the other pos, somehow the puck stayed out.
That’s just the way it’s going for the Flyers, 1.9 seconds to a double ping of the post. Really it’s bad luck, and the Flyers cannot catch a break right now. Sports are weird that way, sometimes the breaks go a teams way and sometimes they don’t. Every mistake appears to be costing this team right now, while their season slips away.
Owen Tippett
The one bright spot from the Flyers is Owen Tippett. It’s great to see Tippett finding his groove in the NHL. He’s always had the talent, now he has the tools. Tippett proved it with that snipe for his 6th of the year of the season right off the faceoff.
Torts has unlocked his skill, and he’s skating with much confidence. Tippett is infused with confidence, and it’s showing on the ice, “”Good work ethic, but it sucks, it’s frustrating,” Tippett said on the losing streak. It will get better Tippett, hopefully.
