The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are on fire as of late, and are currently riding a three game winning streak following a weekend sweep against two good opponents.
The first opponent is their arch rival, the Hershey Bears. The Phantoms won Friday 2-1 in overtime, while taking a page out of overtime heroics, from the big club, the Flyers.
Olle Lycksell scored both goals, as he potted goals four and five on the season, to include of course the overtime winner. It took just 27 seconds in overtime for the Phantoms to strike first blood. This was a massive victory for the Phantoms, that have lost both their starting netminder and number one defenseman to the Flyers for recalls (Emil Andrae and Aleksei Kolosov).
Game 2 (Laval Rockets)
Unfortunately, the Phantoms did not start off well to the Laval Rockets on Saturday, rather they fell behind 2-0 at the end of 1.
The Phantoms tried roaring back in the second period, as they potted a goal, led by Elliot Desnoyers, which happened to be his second of the year. Samu Tuomaala remained hot , with an assist on Desnoyer’s goal. We will have more to talk about Tuomaala later in this piece.
Rodrigo Abols and Anthony Richard scored third period goals, and both were assisted by Ethan Samson. Samson has just taken his game to another level this season as he now has four goals and five assists on the season in just 18 games played.
Jacob Gaucher scored the eventual game winner, assisted by Tuomaala once again. Tuomaala now has eight goals and 12 assists on the season
Tuomaala continues to prove that he is worthy of a recall, if an injury arises with the big club in the future.
The Phantoms erased a two goal deficit, and took over the game in the third period. What a game by Tuomaala and Samson in this one.
