The Flyers bought out a beloved player in Oskar Lindblom right before free agency began. He returned to a sea of cheers at the Wells Fargo Center as a member of the San Jose Sharks on October 23, 2022.
Lindblom was donning his old number of 23 as a member of the Sharks. He signed a two-year $5 million dollar deal ($2.5 million AAV) the day free agency opened.
Lindblom, for his efforts, is just four game shy of 300 for his NHL career. This is an incredible feat considering all that he has been through over the course of the past 3 to 4 years.
He brightens everyone’s day. The young man in Lindblom is always upbeat and respectful. He gives the team a sense of hope, and is always a ray of sunshine. Lindblom is so strong, and mentally tough.
Really the hope is for Lindblom to succeed with the Sharks organization. He really found his niche towards the latter half of the 2021-22 season with the Flyers, as he netted 12 goals and 13 assists in 57;games played under former Interim Head Coach Mike Yeo.
Athletes are human too. Lindblom is always happy, upbeat, and in good spirits daily. I’m sure it was tough for him to get bought out, and it’s also tough for a team to lose that type of upbeat personality in the locker room. Whatever the case maybe, Lindblom will always remain a Flyer. Everyone remain #OskarStrong. We are in this fight together with Lindblom. That bell being rung, was the most beautiful noise I have heard.
