SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - DECEMBER 29: Carter Hart
The sexual assault case involving Carter Hart and four other former members of Canada’s 2018 World Junior hockey team—Michael McLeod, Dillon Dubé, Alex Formenton, and Cal Foote have all been found not guilty on July 24, 2025, from Justice Maria Carroccia in London, Ontario.

All five players plead not guilty to sexual assault charges related to an alleged incident in June 2018, with McLeod facing an additional charge of being a party to the offense. A mistrial was declared in April 2025, leading to a new jury selection, and the trial continued on as scheduled following the mistrial.

Justice Maria Carroccia delivered the verdict on July 24, 2025, in London, Ontario, stating that the Crown failed to meet the burden of proof, as the complainant’s evidence was deemed not credible or reliable.
