The Philadelphia Flyers have one of the strongest left defenseman pool in the NHL. From the lowest levels of play to the NHL, the Flyers are setup to be strong on the left side the defense for years to come. While it’s easy to see the strength at the NHL level with Ivan Provorov and Travis Sanheim claiming the mountain, it’s the secondary wave of Cam York, Yegor Zamula, Emil Andrae, Mason Millman, and Linus Hogberg that solidify a truly impressive group of young men.

Currently, York and Zamula lead that core in overall potential as both players who boast an impressive two-way game and high offensive upside. Zamula will get a chance to prove himself in the pro’s this upcoming season and York will continue to develop at the NCAA level. Fans should expect to hear their names quite a bit over the next few years. However, don’t sleep on Emil Andrae who also has a high end skillset, but carries a risk of being only 5’9 during his draft year. It’s a risk that will hurt Andrae’s prospect status until he proves otherwise.

Check out Part 2 of the Flyers’ Young Guns Ranking series as Yariv Wolok (@ywolok) breaks down the top left defenseman in the Flyers organization.
