The Flyers are currently free falling, and there appears to be no end in sight. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.

Believe it or not this actually could come to fruition sooner rather than later. Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher is very well aware this may be one of his last shots at doing such, and understands the players that new Head Coach John Tortorella likes and dislikes.

His main focus right now is to get the Flyers out of cap purgatory, but building a future/foundation for the future. I’m getting the feeling/sense from the organization that there have been conversations about some moves, so with that a move could happen shortly.

You can watch a great podcast on this topic via Nasty Knuckles, and get a great explanation on it. Kevin Hayes says it originated when he was around 8-years-old. He came to the rink one day wearing #99. He asked his coach if he could call him “Hollywood”. Derek Settlemyre knew about this or new someone that was familiar, and they brought it to Philadelphia. Crazy story, but a good one.

One of the Toronto Maple Leafs weaknesses is their defense, and that was even before the injuries. When you looked at the overall makeup of the Maple Leafs roster before the season began. One could have made an argument that the defense needed some juice.

Chuck Fletcher was actively talking to some teams, and the Maple Leafs could have been one of them. Of course, people can speculate as to who the particular player was, but I’m sure Fletcher knows exactly what type of defenseman the Maple Leafs are looking for. I would venture it would be a defenseman like Justin Braun, who is on an expiring deal and is cheap. I do not think the Maple Leafs would take Rasmus Ristolainen off the Flyers hands, as they are against the cap, even with using LTIR.

Tanner is a class act, and I have been interviewing him since he was a freshman at Ohio State. I did ask him this, and of course to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, as well, with his wife and baby, “You as well Jamey. Have a happy holidays and hope all is well!”.
