After starting out hot, the Flyers have now come back down to Earth with a 7-7-3 record. They are losers of five in a row, and are reeling at the moment. Simply put, Chuck Fletcher should make a move right now to obtain talent. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.

Actually, it’s my understanding there are talks of acquiring more talent. I see the Flyers making a move in a week or two for talent. Chuck Fletcher should have swiped Dylan Strome in the offseason, and pundits would not be talking about this very topic right now. Fletcher’s job is on the line, and he knows it.

Sean Couturier is out at least until February-March.

Cam Atkinson is out, with no timeline for return. He is suffering from an undisclosed Upper Body Injury. Per John Tortorella, he does not think this is a season ending injury for Cam.

Chuck Fletcher appears to like taking the easier way out, hence making waiver wire pickups. On the surface it appears he’s afraid of who the organization has to depart with, especially his home grown guys.

Fletcher is actively trying to make a trade to improve the team, that much is for certain. Maybe he strikes a deal in a week or two, but the Center position is hurting right now. A talented player could be used asap to stop the bleeding.

There is one word for this…experience. Max Willman is ready, and was playing well for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Tyson Foerster remains inconsistent with the Phantoms, which alludes that he needs more time down on the farm, same with Elliot Desnoyers. It’s very tempting to call up one of Foerster or Desnoyers due to their respective ceilings, however, that could be a detriment to their development.

The Flyers already have a black eye with growing players, for good reason. Let’s not add to it, they will be up when they are ready. Foerster had a nice goal yesterday against Providence, so let’s hope he keeps it up.

Fletcher is active on the trade market, let’s hope he strikes within a week or two.

I loved this, this gave me a good laugh. Thank you. Hopefully they win tonight in Montreal.

This is very valid for most games. John Tortorella called them out last weekend on this very subject. It appears the team got the message as they looked liked a more cohesive unit in the first period against a very good Boston Bruins team.

This has been an on going issue since Peter Laviolette. It appears Tortorella is on the right track in terms of correcting bad starts in the first period. They just look lethargic and uninterested at times in the opening stanza.

Let’s revisit this topic in a few weeks, with the hopes that the players got the message.

Bobby Brink skated last week during practice in Lehigh. It’s a huge step forward in the right direction. Other than that, I think he remains on target to return in December-January.

If the Flyers sustained yet another massive losing streak of 10-15 games, I think the Flyers front office would act. However, if they were to move on from Chuck Fletcher, it would be at the end of the season. At this point, what’s the point in firing him? He’s already being watched with a fine tune comb.

  1. Wow. When I read brian_gartside’s post above I do not laugh. I know his post is tongue and cheek. I get its probably his frustration he lays out there. It’s so much more than that. We are now looking at least a 7 year rebuild if fletcher is fired tomorrow. This team basically lost the last generation of hockey fans due to ineptness and cannot afford losing the next generation. The flyers cannot continue to live off the 1970s. Pathetic, rudderless hockey is not the way to go.
