The Flyers 2023-24 season has come to a close recently. With that came exit interviews, and Danny Briere and John Tortorella gave their insight into the Flyers plan for the offseason. Don’t expect the Flyers to make a big splash via free agency, rather they are going to add via trade. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.
There are a few teams the Flyers have talked to, and a few teams that should be on the Flyers radar: Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, Vegas Golden Knights, and Ottawa Senators
Trevor Zegras, Trevor Zegras , Trevor Zegras just remember that Flyers fans. It is very possible that Danny Briere tries to obtain him from the Anaheim Ducks.
The Flyers were targeting young players that need to change a scenery, one that comes to mind is Peyton Krebs from the Sabres. This is exactly the prototype player that the Flyers are targeting, for instance, Owen Tippett. Krebs is young as he only sits at 23-years-old, but he fills the void down the middle for the orange and black. It’s going to take a pretty good package to stear him away from the Sabres, with the likes of maybe Joel Farabee and a Fourth/Fifth round pick. Obviously, there would be more coming back in the Flyers direction too, but that is the kind of trade I envision the Flyers making.
Some other targets would be Shane Pinto and Jakob Chychrun from the Ottawa Senators. Pinto is only 23-years-old, and again would fill a void down the middle, while Chychrun could make a defenseman expendable on the Flyers end. Flyers have draft picks to use as capital, and once again Joel Farabee could be a Target around a deal.
I keep mentioning Farabee because that’s what teams are going to look for, in terms of adding. They will look for young versatile players that have top six potential. If the Flyers are going to acquire a player with top six potential, then they have to pay the price. Morgan Frost has renewed confidence, to which the Flyers top brass think highly of him, especially after he handled the benchings and all the other adversity well this past season.
There are a few players on the Vegas Golden Knights that could interest the Flyers, Pavel Dorofeyev (RFA), and Nicolas Roy. Roy is 27-years-old, and posted similar numbers to Farabee, while Dorofeyev is 23, and the sky is the limit for this young man. They cannot keep everyone, and Roy has been moved down the depth chart in Vegas.
The Flyers will be active and we will keep you in the loop every step of the way.
This is a great question. Some comparables are Shayne Gostisbehere, whom was and still is and excellent skating defenseman.
There are plenty of good skating Defensemen that have had this particular surgery in the past, to include the likes of Mattias Samuelsson, Jared Spurgeon, and Jan Rutta to name a few.
Let’s see how Jamie Drysdale returns, if indeed he does have this procedure. The Flyers have a string of bad luck with these type of procedures, with the players returning healthy the following next season. Players like Kevin Hayes, Claude Giroux, and Shayne Gostisbehere.
