The Flyers made a huge splash before the roster freeze on Saturday with acquiring Ryan Ellis from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Nolan Patrick and Philippe Myers, to which Nolan Patrick was then subsequently flipped to the Vegas Golden Knights for Cody Glass. What will happen next is anybody’s guessed as the expansion draft takes place on Wednesday night at 8pm EST. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.

Well, I was honestly going to say Ryan Ellis at the draft, but the next move will be the first round of the draft on Friday night. Chuck Fletcher obviously beat me to the punch, so I will answer your question another way.

I think the Flyers next move is obtaining Vladimir Tarasenko. Jake Voracek will be traded for him, and that does not mean this happens tomorrow night at the expansion draft. This could happen Friday night at the NHL Draft before the Flyers announce their first pick.

If the Flyers missed the playoffs for a second straight season Chuck Fletcher, Alain Vigneault, Mike Yeo, and Michel Therrien would all be dismissed at the end of season.

Morgan Frost could very well be a player that rebounds from adversity. In my personal opinion, I believe he starts the year off with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, as he missed an entire season of developmental time. People have to remember he hasn’t played an organized hockey game in almost 18-20 months.

I’m still very high on Frost, I think he will play with the big club around the middle of the season. However, with Nolan Patrick and Lindblom just coming back this past season from missing significant time. Frost should be given some patience to succeed to perform at a high level. The Flyers I’m sure will be cautious with this approach, especially after this past season.

The Flyers have to surround this team with better players on special teams, it’s as simple as that. Fletcher did that with acquiring Ryan Ellis, as he possesses a laser from the point. Last season, he tallied two power play goals in just 35 games played. Ellis knows how to get shots through from the point as he also tallied two power play assists.

In addition, look for the Flyers to add more pieces such as Niklas Hjalmarsson, Mikael Granlund (Possibly), to which these few additions will likely also improve their special teams. The Flyers have to let this predictability thing go from a power play standpoint, and just the players flourish. It’s time for the personnel to share some responsibility, as well, from the goalies on down.

Lastly, Michel Therrien has to do a better job. too He knows this team after two seasons, there are no more excuses. Therrien at times can be stubborn to change things, simply put he also has to do a better job at coaching.

hey

The Flyers are very, very interested in bringing Tarasenko to Philadelphia. I reported this on Saturday. I believe Jake will be traded at the draft on Friday night to St. Louis for an even swap of Tarasenko.

Tarasenko is a pure goal scorer. When healthy he can pot 25-30 goals. From the reports I have read it appears he is completely healthy. Keep in mind the Flyers, like other teams in the NHL, have more information about his medical history than we know of. If the Flyers make a move for him it is because they think he can produce at a high level.

My initial thought was Shayne Gostisbehere. However, it appears the Seattle Kraken have selected Carsen Twarynski….doooooohhhhh

I believe selecting Carsen Twarynski is the worst case scenario. I’m shocked, but there are still ways at clearing cap space with a team like Arizona. In addition, I wrote in my mock draft earlier in the week that Jake would be traded for Tarasenko at the draft on Friday night. Stay tuned, I will keep you informed.

It puts a small damper in things, but there are ways around this. For instance, the Flyers have trade chips that they can trade away to clear cap, and get a good return. Someone they wouldn’t want to part with, but they have no other choice. I’m talking Scott Laughton.
