The Flyers have to make some necessary changes this offseason, rather than just standing pat for the most part like the offseason in 2020. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.

The Flyers can ill afford to lose Sean Couturier’s services right now, unless it’s for a generational talent like Jack Eichel. Of course, Sean wouldn’t be the only person to that trade, but that is about the only move I would use him in right now. Coots is just so good.

The loss of the current Selke Trophy Award winner Sean Couturier would be a big one, and finally some people saw just how valuable he was on a nightly basis when he was hurt for 12 games. Couturier covers up many mistakes and gaffes by the defense, and in reality it makes them appear to better than they actually are. One of the biggest weaknesses to this 2021 Flyers team was the overall team defense, so they can ill afford to lose Coots this offseason.

Personally, I do not see the Flyers conducting a major overhaul to their current roster, but what the Flyers will do is add. The Flyers will add one to two defensemen, a quality backup netminder, and a Third Line Center so Kevin Hayes can properly recover from his core surgery.

The Flyers will add at the very least a top pairing defenseman to pair with Ivan Provorov, but I think that comes via trade. I don’t foresee the Flyers making a major splash in free agency, but they will be very active in such for gritty players like Barclay Goodrow and Corey Perry to name a few. Also, look for Fletcher to be interested in the services of Mikael Granlund or Casey Cizikas to be a third line Center.

Cole Sillinger

Fyodor Svechkov

Carson Lambos

Chaz Lucius

Simon Robertsson

I would love Mason MacTavish, but I have him pegged between picks five to six.

One good defenseman that I would like to see the Flyers add is Seth Jones. He is a natural righty and exactly what this team needs. Throw his analytics out the window. This young man is good and he’s only going to get better as he is only 26-years-old.

A goalie that could replace Brian Elliott is Antii Raanta. He produced a solid .905 Save Percentage this past season, and he is 32-years-old. Raanta would be a solid backup for the young Hart, and he would not challenge him for the starting role, as Hart is a slam dunk starter in this league. Don’t forget about Devan Dubnyk either.

Thanks a lot for all you do for Flyers Nitty Gritty. The O&B Puckcast is one of the best Flyers podcasts.

Carson Lambos (LHD)- This young man will be a good one, and he can play both sides effectively. Most teams covet a righty that can play this particular side with ease. These players are hard to come by in today’s NHL. Lambos would be a good selection for the Flyers at pick 13.

Simon Robertsson (RW)- Robertsson is a Power Forward that is 6’0 and weighs 190 pounds. He can score with the best of them, and his offensive abilities may outweigh his skating and defensive deficiencies. He’s not a terrible skater for his size, but the Flyers are also in dire need of a player that has a booming shot, to pair with one of the best wrist shots in the draft. His physical abilities are fantastic, and he never takes a shift off.

Personally, I do not think so, but one intriguing name would be Tyler Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi struggled with injuries this past season, but he is still one heck of a player that can physical, as well. It is very rare for a team to submit a qualifying offer, rather than try to trade for such player. If The Flyers are that interested in Bertuzzi. I could see Chuck Fletcher using the trade route to obtain his services.

Over 4.

The Flyers should not be given an excuse for the failure on a season solely based off of Covid-19. However, it did affect them worse than some other teams. Notable Flyers players that remained positive from Covid were Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny, Scott Laughton, Jakub Voracek, and Travis Sanheim. Even though, some do not want to blame Covid on the Flyers downfall, it did actually transpire though. Again this is not the only reason the Flyers faltered this past season, but to say it didn’t have an affect on these players is wrong in my opinion.

  1. Here we go with the overrating of our own players. Sean Couturier come on down! Someone explain to me why exactly is Couturier is considered untouchable except for only a generational talent?

Someone please further explain why a generational talent would be traded to the Flyers for Couturier?

What GM would do this? Is Couturier some kind of magical hockey god? Is he so good that he carries the Flyers to the playoffs?

This overrating of our own players by our fanbase has to stop. It’s insanity. Sean Couturier is a decent player, but let’s not make him into something he’s not.

If it wasn’t for his defense, which is also overrated too, his career would be considered average to below average considering the expectations placed on him where he was drafted.

Flyers fans need to wake up and drink about a keg of coffee. Wake up to reality, folks. If these players who get put on a pantheon by the fanbase were so good, then the Flyers wouldn’t be in the position they are in now.

Which is very close to being the doormats of the league.

  2. Would look at Morgan Reilly from leafs
Probably for Morgan Frost and draft pick
Andersen won’t be back with leafs

  3. Would talk to Leafs about Hyman , talking doesn’t cost anything and Leafs are shaking the tree ssd

  4. What’s the current status of Morgan Frost? Is he healthy enough to play when the next regular season starts? I think he’s such a high potential talent that the Flyers should not get rid of him. Frost should become a top 6 forward in our roster in near future and make an impact instantly, since what he’s shown to us so far, 2019-2020 season, watching highlight reels of him in the Flyers jersey was quite impressing!
