The Flyers are on a bye following All-Star weekend. However, the Flyers are currently out of the playoff picture, as they sit in 9th place in the Eastern Conference. They are one point out of the 8th seed that is currently held by the Carolina Hurricanes, and two points out of the 7th seed that is currently held by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Simply put, the Flyers have some work to do if they want to make the playoffs. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.

With the Flyers selecting anywhere’s from 16 to 20, there will be a lot of good players available at this point in the draft. This is a deep draft, there will be good options with this pick.

Dylan Holloway- This young man does it all, and he plays any position offensively. He could play Left Wing, Right Wing, and Center. He’s very versatile, and I’m sure Fletcher will have him on his radar.

Dawson Mercer- The Right-Wing position in my opinion needs to be restocked in the Flyers farm system. Mercer is a natural goal-scorer, and a goal scorer the Flyers could use right now. Hopefully, over time the Flyers could finally have a pure goal scorer.

Jack Quinn- He’s a Right Winger that can score with the best of them. Quinn has a lethal shot, and knows how to skate.

Last year, the Flyers restocked the cupboard defensively, now it’s time to add pure goal scorers in the system.

Fortunately, the Flyers have an ECHL affiliate with the Reading Royals. This helps goalies that are not used to the North American ice, to become use to the North American ice with less pressure. These Goaltending prospects will not come over at the same time I presume. The Flyers own indefinite rights to Ivan Fedotov, and finally Samuel Ersson is playing well again.

The thing is, Goaltending is one of the most unpredictable positions in hockey. A team can never have too many Goaltending prospects, as they just don’t know which ones will pan out. Fortunately, former General Manager Ron Hextall did a great job with drafting these young goalie prospects. Fletcher even added Roddy Ross, again as you just never know.

With that being said, more than likely these two young Goaltending prospects in Ersson and Fedotov will start in the ECHL, and that would be a great way to get them used to the North American ice. For instance, look at Felix Sandstrom this year, he has struggled with the Royals, who would have predicted that. It’s a blessing in disguise to have this type of quality Goaltending prospects in the system.

The Flyers have seven quality defencemen when healthy. They are in a pretty good situation defensively for a playoff push. Mark Friedman played well in his short stint with the Flyers, so this affords Fletcher the option to plug a hole offensively.

Some players that could be of interest for the Flyers are Craig Smith (Nashville Predators), Conor Sheary (Buffalo Sabres), Jimmy Vesey (Buffalo Sabres), or Chris Tierney (Unlikely at the moment, unless Nolan Patrick does not come back).

Do not look for a blockbuster type deal from the Flyers at the trade deadline. Fletcher will be on the market for a small, minor deal(s).

Everything is great at the moment thanks for asking. Shayne Gostisbehere is unlikely to be moved by the trade deadline. However, Ghost could very well be moved in the off-season, especially if the Flyers miss the playoffs. Friedman played exceptionally well in his brief stint, and to me it made a defenceman expendable.

With the expansion draft looming following the 2020-21 season, his days could very well be numbered in an orange and black sweater. Ghost is a great person and athlete, but things will get interesting in the off-season, especially if the Flyers miss the playoffs.

  1. Dylan Holloway is my pick, but Jack Quin could be a great goal scorer in future also! I would try to trade Ghost to Toronto for Kasperi Kapanen one on one, because as you said Ghost is expendable, and we badly need more forward depth, witch Kapanen can offer with great success! And we should also trade Justin Braun before trade deadline, and bring back the assets, or at least some of it, witch we wasted on him before this season, because Braun is expendable also with Friedman coming! So Chucky get more assets and cap space on Braun and trade Ghost to Kapanen, and draft well with those assets, and maybe we could have a great season, and beyond!

  2. What team wouldn’t want Kasperi Kapanen. He is an outstanding young player who has great skills and skating ability. A dynamic player who creates offense. Unfortunately, Toronto won’t be giving him up for an inconsistent defenseman like Shayne Gostisbehere. (By the way, I love the Ghost and I believe he fulfills a need for the Flyers) Toronto’s GM could get fired for making that trade. Worse yet, Chuck Fletcher has proven he is easy pickings when it comes to making deals. Since Charles Fletcher is the president of the Flyers, he needs to fire the the current Flyer’s GM and bring in someone who knows how to not only make outstanding trades, but evaluate and draft young talent.

Who is he perfect candidate for the Philadelphia Flyers GM job? How about the man with a reputation as an outstanding cap manager(has a proven track record) , an outstanding evaluator of young talent, knows how to come out on top on every trade and is an outstanding draft guru? Yes, of course I’m speaking of Ron Hextall, the Flyers ex-GM who put all that great young talent the Flyers currently have, on the ice. Bring Ron Hextall back. He is the FLYERS for crying out loud. It’s time for Fletcher to get the man who bleeds Orange and Black back to the task at hand. Building a winner that keeps winning.

  3. Face it Gregg Lorenz, Hexy is not coming back! But we should start looking for a new draft guru, to replace Brent Flair as our assistant GM position, in order to get us back drafting well with great success! But we have a great scouts gladly left from Hextall era, who Chucky listened in case of our fourth round pick Mason Millman, who can be the steal of the draft last summer! So i really hope Chucky will listen them in future also!
