Tonight marks the final meeting between these two teams for the 2025-26 season. The Flyers won both previous matchups in November by the scores of 6-3 and 5-3.

Jersey just fired their GM and they’re not going to make it to the post season this year but they’ve been doing a fine job of playing spoiler just the same. This past Sunday they snapped the Montreal Canadiens 10 winning streak. They are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. This game is not a given, none of them are.
Jack Hughes
Olympic hero Jack Hughes was just named the NHL’s 2nd star of the week with 3 goals and 9 points over 4 games. Hughes has 25 goals and 47 assists for 72 points so far this season. They Devils have 4 players with 20 or more goals Jasper Bratt 20, Nico Hischer 26, and Timo Meier with 24.
Only the New York Rangers are behind the Devils in the Metropolitan Division standing. The Metro is a tough division as we all know and Jersey is still above hockey 500 with 83 points and 5 games remaining in their season.

Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are coming off of a big weekend that ended with them sitting in a 3rd place playoff qualifying position in the Metropolitan Division. They beat the Islanders 4-1 on Friday night and the Boston Bruins 2-1 when Porter Martone scored his first NHL goal in overtime for the win. This was storybook stuff but the challenge of holding onto that playoff spot is gigantic. The competition is steep and the margins are razor thin.
The Flyers have been playing some real solid hockey since the Olympic break they are 7-3-0 in their last ten games. Travis Konecny leads the team in scoring with 27 goals and 39 assists. Konecny is also a plus-13. He has really come into his own as a team leader and has been a very helpful linemate to Martone who is only 19 years old. Trevor Zegras has 23 goals and 39 assists, Owen Tippett leads the team in goals with 28.

Martone is a natural born shooter and has led the team in shots on goal in all but one of his games since coming to the Flyers. Konecny has been helpful in that area as well dropping him some sweet tape to tape passes right in front of the net where Martone excels and doesn’t hesitate.

Another boost to the Flyers offense has been the return of Tyson Foerster. Before returning last week Foerster had not suited up since the beginning of December due to injury. Foerster is a solid and dangerous asset to have back in the lineup down the stretch.
Special Teams
The Flyers are still dogged with the distinction of owning the leagues least productive power play. Hopefully having Martone and Foerster in the lineup could give that situation a much needed bump.
The Flyers penalty kill ranks around 20th so there is that. But the Devils power-play is 10th best in the league so the Black and Orange need to stay out of the box when they can.
It is too early to know who will be between the pipes for the Flyers tonight but either way they should be in pretty good shape. Dan Vladar is currently ranked just below Sergei Bobrovsky and Samuel Ersson has been playing some solid hockey winning 4 of his last 5 starts.
