Travis Konecny is always vocal, chirping, and seems to just enjoy his time playing the game he loves most. Following a practice in February 2019, Konecny yelled, “Sanheim is a good guy, as it looks like he’s skating from Manitoba.” That’s just who Konecny is, this was classic Konecny. Following a season of disappointment Konecny knows he can be better:
“I wish I could tell you, I would have fixed it. I’m not too sure. I think this season was weird in general. And if you had any sort of issues in your game, it was hard to work on certain things and get back to where you need to be because there was no practice time to reset and maybe get your confidence back. But other than that, maybe I wasn’t shooting the puck as much as I was last year, trying to do too much. Maybe just get back to simplify my game. I’m gonna have some time to reflect on that and hopefully figure it out over the offseason.”– Travis Konecny said at exit interviews
Konecny is an electrifying player. Alain Vigneault and the rest of the coaching staff trusts Konecny, whether it be late in the games, 3-on-3 overtimes, or in shootouts as the coaching staff continues to trust him in all situations. This was a tough season mentally, physically, and he makes no excuses for poor play at times, “I mean, it’s easy to look back now and make excuses,” Konecny said at exit interviews. “Other teams have the same amount of people from different countries, and they made it work. So I’m not gonna say the fault is all training. I know it was difficult. I was working out of my garage for as long as I could until I was allowed to get back in into my regular gym, and trying to find ice was difficult. But everyone went through it. Every team went through it. It was a weird year for everybody. You know, hopefully we can we can figure it out next year. And everyone’s training situations are better this year. And if they’re not they can they can figure out a way to improve it.”
The young rising star in Konecny does a little bit of everything. He will chip in on the power play, lay a big hit, block shots, and most of all do anything to help the team win. He had a bit of a down year, but fortunately Konecny played much better in the latter parts of the season as he blasted 11 goals, and chipped in 23 assists for a total of 34 points in 50 games played. Moreover, Konecny has issued out 55 hits and blocked 16 shots. Now he embarks a new life with his fiancée Karly Girard, as the two are expecting a baby in August. It’s for this reason Konecny should be in the Philadelphia region now, “It’s very exciting. Baby’s due late August,” Konecny said at exit interviews. “So that’s something exciting for me. I’ve got a lot to look forward to in the summer months here, so I’m gonna be back down here sometime in July getting ready to have a baby. So we’re both really excited for it. Can’t wait.”
Konecny will now become a dad in August, and this by far will be one of the greatest achievements that he will achieve in his lifetime. He will fulfill his biggest duty and that is being a dad. Everything else will be second-third-and so on. Yes, his job with playing hockey is important, however, his fiancée and his child are far more important.
He has found a new attitude, and this should rub off well on his teammates off the ice. He will always be charismatic, so hopefully he has a big rebound season in 2021-22. Whatever the case maybe, a new Konecny will be born so let’s give a bit of congratulations to Travis and his fiancée Karly Girard.
Konecny is becoming a rising star in Philadelphia. His heart and soul has won over the proud orange-clad fans of Philadelphia, and the coaching staff. One thing is for certain, he will always love his family.
