The Flyers continue to get somewhat good news on the injury front, with Carter Hart practicing, Joel Farabee being cleared for contact, Sean Couturier skating today. Yes, you read that properly, Coots was skating today. These are some good signs, as the Flyers are starting to get healthier, finally.

Injuries will occur, but the majority of these injuries are important pieces of the overall success of the orange and black. Couturier is still considered to being week to week, until Flyers’General Manager Chuck Fletcher says otherwise. However, this is a great sign in terms of his recovery with skating.

Couturier means everything to the Flyers. He does everything, and does it well. Coots is the backbone of this team, and a healthy Couturier goes a long way. Without him this team just appears to be decimated from the get go.

All injuries are concerning, but Couturier’s injury remains somewhat of a mystery, so it’s understandable that fans are panicking. He’s an important piece to the Flyers overall success, there is no hiding that.

Carter Hart

Hart really makes the Flyers Goaltending that much stronger, and without him my gosh the orange and black would be fighting an uphill battle with unknowns in Felix Sandström and Samuel Ersson. Ersson and Sandström are both vying for the backup Goaltending spot, and Sandström did practice today.

However, even with that good news. Hart still believes he will be in the lineup on Thursday. Hart is entering a season, and one that he faces with a lot of pressure from not only the fan base, but the Flyers top brass, as well. It feels like the season rides and dies on the 24-year-old’s shoulders and that’s sort of unfair, with the Flyers not being aggressive this past offseason.

All in all, the Flyers are getting healthier at the right time, so hopefully all goes well as the week progresses.

The Flyers waive two, and Noah Cates:

Zack MacEwen and Cooper Marody have been waived, with the intent of send them both to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The Flyers roster at the moment sits at 30 with rosters due tomorrow by the NHL.

Noah Cates received high praise from John Tortorella today. Tortorella said he had the best camp out of everyone, and he will start the season at Center. This of course is plausible due to the injury to Couturier.
