The Flyers have been looking for consistency, a spark, some energy, so Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher recalled Tanner Laczynski from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Laczynski a sixth round draft pick from the 2016 NHL Draft, has really performed well for the Phantoms by amassing six goals, while chipping in four assists in 14 games played.

Laczynski was born June 1, 1997, in Shorewood, IL. He chose to attend Ohio State University, and after completing his tenure with the Buckeyes Men’s Ice Hockey team, Laczynski amassed 48 goals, and 95 assists for a total of 143 points in 138 games played.

“I just have to continue to work hard, and realize I’m not even close to where I want to be as a player. I’m happy, but not satisfied with the season. It starts with another strong offseason gaining strength, weight, speed, and transferring that to help my skill set on the ice.”- Tanner Laczynski told Jamey Baskow last year

He is a hidden gem, and Laczynski played well in his NHL debut last night. Laczynski logged 8:17 minutes of ice time, registered a massive block possibly saving a goal, won three face-offs, and played 1:40 on the Penalty Kill. Head Coach Alain Vigneault trusted this young forward in a huge game against the Isles. He is a strong power forward that plays the game the right way. Laczynski plays a two-way and can adapt to any situation the coaching staff asks of him. He is versatile as ge can play both the Penalty Kill and Power Play, and is teachable. He just wants to succeed.

It is no secret that the Flyers have been restocking the farm system the past few seasons. Eventually we will see how all this pans out in the coming years. Will all these young prospects work out maybe not, but the majority of them hopefully will. Add Laczynski to the list of players to watch for in the future. He has a never say die attitude who never gives up, and that alone will make him a fan favorite here in Philadelphia.
