Ok I get it, you have other things to do today. I’ll be brief. The mood down by the stadiums was great today The parking lots were already filling up with tailgaters wearing their green and yelling “Go Birds” at each other before the Flyers game even got started. It’s great to see Philly in a good mood! Everyone who was in the rink for a hockey game on Super Bowl Sunday really wanted to be there so the crowd, although modest in size, was paying attention and making noise.
The Flyers lost to the Seattle Kraken by a score of 4-3. The Flyers just plagued themselves with turnovers and give aways all afternoon. They were out shot and out played until the last few minutes when they really turned on the gas. They really did make a solid push for the tying goal but it was too little too late. The crowd was on it’s feet as the Flyers kept firing away to no avail as time ran out. They’ve had trouble all season with the second game of back to backs. Felix Sandstrom once again attempted to hold down the fort for a tired looking Flyers team that was having trouble keeping up with the pace of today’s game.
Extra Credit: James van Riemsdyk had a nice goal today where he batted in a rebound with his stick just below the legal limit. …Look at that, the Flyers are using baseball moves in the hockey rink on Super Bowl Sunday. Ok go enjoy the game, Go Birds, stay classy Philly.
The Flyers return to action Thursday night in Seattle where they’ll take another crack at the Kraken 10PM
