This is not the news anyone wanted to hear, but Mike Yeo provided an update on Samuel Morin following practice yesterday, “He’s not looking like any time soon, let’s put it that way,” Yeo said in regards to Morin.

Yeo does not expect him back this season, and he is not skating yet. This is just a darn shame, especially after he told me at training camp in 2019-20, “I just have to remain healthy, and work my butt off for a spot. This might be my last shot.” Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, as the number 11th pick in the 2013 draft is missing significant time yet again.

His season came to a halt on October 3, 2018 as a member of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, as he tore his ACL in his right knee. A prized 6’7,” first-round selection was down for the count. Somehow he returned in February, and managed to play in five games with the Flyers in 2018-19. Unfortunately, he managed to tear it again in November of 2019, as he hit a player in the corner while playing for the Phantoms.

The 2013 first round selection in Morin found himself in a log jam at defense last season (Finally healthy), but he managed to play in 20 games for the orange and black in 2020-21. Morin was originally used as a forward, until he played defense again for the Phantoms under the direction of former Head Coach Scott Gordon.

Morin’s future is now uncertain in Philadelphia. He is in the last year of his deal with the Flyers, and he can become a free agent after this season. However, at this rate the only thing that matters is Morin getting healthy, and one can only imagine what he’s going through mentally at this moment. The young man is always chipper, and giddy in the locker room. This is just a shame, as he cannot catch a break. Prayers for Morin.

  1. This is crazy. The Flyers told us he underwent a knee procedure and would be out 6-8 weeks initially. That was around 4 months ago.

Either they lied or their medical staff is completely incompetent.

  2. Our medical issues should have us reevaluating this staff. Hayes and Ellis are two most glaring mistakes.

    1. Agreed…no matter where the Pens and Rangers draft, they find players ready to contribute. They draft players…we draft ‘projects’ Mind-boggling

      1. The Flyers need that grit back , Sam is the man and the organization knows it. The next Chris Pronger and that’s exactly what the Flyboys need …. GRIT ! and that’s why they will be patient with Sam and his injury 💪

  3. He’s on his way to become a permanent career-minor leaguer. The Flyers historically draft them. Doesn’t help either that the Front Office is littered with ex-Flyers who have no business being there. The whole organization needs an overhaul. Don’t think that’s happening anytime soon.
