Tyson Foerster has made one he k of an impression with the Flyers. He has proven that his skating can “Hang with the big boys”, and that he will shoot from anywhere.

Actually, the biggest thing he showed John Tortorella and his coaching staff was he can play a 200ft game at the NHL level. He looked like a complete player in his brief eight games played, and one needs temper their expectations on him in such a small sample size:

“He’s down (Tyson Foerster). He’s down and Zamula’s down. Already been talked to.” – John Tortorella

Tortorella continued, “I mean, he gives everybody – he’s played really well. And not just the things that show up as far as the goals, but the other things too. Those are the things that I need to concentrate on as he continues to grow as a player.”

Egor Zamula had a brief nice three game stint. Zamula finishes this recall with two assists and is a plus one. He looked confident and made some plays that lead to quick zone exits. Zamula has defensive awareness, which is a good thing to have on the big stage.

“The younger guys are being put in many more positions to see what they can do. I thought Z – I’m not sure how his assists come about – but just watching his game, I thought he had some really good puck poise,” Tortorella said of Zamula following the Florida Panthers game.

Tortorella wanted Zamula to make the play more quickly. If he sees it, then make it without hesitating. This has been a work in progress on this part, but he was much smoother in that regard in this recall. He did show poise, and made some nice clean zone exits in this three game stint. Honestly, Zamula did a good job and he could be part of the solution moving forward for the Flyers.

“We are still battling for playoffs so every game is a big game for the Phantoms. We lost three in a row, it’s not great, but I play big minutes, and PK and Power Play,” Zamula said.

Carter Hart

Hart finished yesterday’s game with a 29 save shutout against the Detroit Red Wings. This young man is not faltering near the end of season after being worn out, rather he is flourishing, “I wasn’t with him the prior year, but I’ve said it to you guys all year long about him, I just think he’s in a little bit of a zone as far as his preparation and an area after games – win or lose, good or bad – that he just stays within himself,” said Tortorella. “You can sense that about him, the way he carries himself. That’s what I look at in a goalie. Not the technical part, but how he carries himself. How he carries himself with his teammates. He hasn’t skipped a beat this year. I think he’s been really good that way and has kept his consistencies.”

Torts continued, “He’s had some really good games and some struggles, but he never changes how he goes about his business. It’s really important.”

Hart is 4-1 with a .916 Save Percentage in his last five starts. What more, or what more proof can anyone ask of this young man at this stage in the season that he is the Goaltender of the future for the orange and black.

Ronnie Attard

Attard has been one of the most consistent defenseman for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He has a good hockey sense and a good hockey IQ.

For his efforts, I’m hearing he is the next prospect to be recalled, as early as Monday. He did sit out Saturday’s contest against Wilkes-Barre with a sickness so let’s see what happens. He does have 11g,18a in 61 games played, and is a plus nine for the Phantoms.

Attard shows poise, and a calming effect to make the right play. This season, he hasn’t been hesitating with the puck, he’s just been a confident hockey player.

Tim Saunders

Saunders was honored by the Flyers organization with 25 years of service yesterday during the first period of the game against the Detroit Red Wings.

He has one of those recognizable voices that everyone knows when they hear it, and he has been excellent radio broadcaster for many, many, years. Many Flyers fans grew up listening to Saunders congratulations on a job well done Tim. It’s always great talking to Tim on the balcony during Flyers training camp. He has so much knowledge of the game.

Cheers to many, many, more years Tim
