The Philadelphia Flyers are set to take on the Utah Hockey Club tonight at 9 pm in Utah. With the team riding a three-game shutout loss streak, Flyers fans can only hope they see at least a goal scored. If they want to have any chance of staying in the wildcard race, they need to get going now.
The Flyers seem to be all over the place when it comes to injuries and who’s in the lineup every night. However, fans have been provided answers on social media at least for tonight’s game.
Rasmus Ristolainen, Owen Tippett, Ryan Poehling, and Egor Zamula are all currently listed as day-to-day with upper-body injuries. None will take the ice tonight. The newly traded for Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier are still in Calgary dealing with visa issues. While it’s highly unlikely they play, if they manage to get everything figured out before game time, they’ll jump into the lineup.
It’s also been announced that Samuel Ersson will be in net for the Flyers. I think everyone can agree with me that goaltending hasn’t been a problem for the Flyers. The goals scored by opponents have been because of bad line changes or defensive breakdowns. When will Ersson start to get some help? Hopefully, the answer is tonight.
All of the negatives are out of the way. Let’s bring in a positive, shall we? Nicolas Deslauriers is back and will be in the lineup tonight. He was placed on the injured reserve (IR) list back on Nov 9. after sustaining an upper-body injury in the game against the Florida Panthers. While Deslauriers may not be all about offense and scoring goals, the Flyers now have the fight-and-bite factor back on the team.
With the number of players out with injuries, fans can still expect to see Rodrigo Abols, Emil Andrae, Jacob Gaucher, and Erik Johnson in the lineup.
The Flyers are in desperate need of two points. Will they pick them up tonight? Only time will tell.
