The Flyers 2022 fifth-round pick, Alex Bump, has won USA hockey’s Player of the Year award after a terrific season with Prior Lake High School in Minnesota.
The University of Vermont commit appeared in 31 games with Prior Lake this season, posting 48 goals, 35 assists for 83 total points. Bump also played in 27 USHL games with the Omaha Lancers, posting 11 goals and six assists for 17 total points.
He was drafted by the Lancers in the sixth-round, 87th overall, in the 2021 USHL Entry draft.
Bump is a strong addition to the Flyers pool. A group that has lacked high-end talent over the past few seasons, Bump will bring speed and strong offensive abilities to the Flyers organization. One thing Flyers fans will love about this player is his ability to shoot the puck. He has an elite toe-drag shot almost like Auston Matthews. His playmaking and ability to create space is also something to take note of as well.
If he can round out his defensive game, there is no question he will be a solid player for the Flyers down the road.
