A young man by the name of Elliot “The Destroyer” Desnoyers hails from St-Hyacinthe, QC, CAN, which is located outside of Montreal. Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher traded picks 202 and 209 to the Nashville Predators to move up to select a sharpshooter in Desnoyers with the 135th pick of the 2020 NHL Draft. Desnoyers is a versatile player as he is mainly used as a Center with the Halifax Mooseheads, but he can play left wing, as well. Desnoyers said to me that he learned a lot this past Summer at Flyers Training Camp, and he will only get better
Desnoyers said to me on Christmas Eve that he plays a 200 ft game, and his style of play would resonate with Flyers fans, “They are special, I think they will like my style of game that I bring.”
The young 19-year-old in Desnoyers was named Captain of the Mooseheads ahead of their game against the Shawinigan Cataractes earlier in the season. He has tallied 36 points on the season, and 16 of those points are goals.
This 2021-22 season appears to be a dream season as Desnoyers has tallied three points in two games played for Team Canada at the WJC Tournament. Last night against Austria Desnoyers registered three assists, logged 11:48 of ice time, and was a plus three in just his second WJC game of his career, “It’s unbelievable,” Desnoyers said on being selected for Team Canada:

What an honor it is to be named with the likes of Shane Wright, Conor Bedard, Cole Perfetti, Owen Power, and Mavrik Bourque. Desnoyers elaborated on Wright, as he said he is an “Amazing” player, and it’s pretty neat to be his teammate for this tournament.
Desnoyers did tell me that his parents were coming into the area this past weekend for the tournament, but he did not know if he would be able to see them, due to the strict Covid regulations that the IIHF has in place for the WJC Tournament. He sounded pretty excited about this during the interview.
Once seen as a project pick for the Flyers after being traded from the Moncton Wildcats. Desnoyers brings a combination of high-end skating and hockey sense that makes him a dangerous player without the puck. He plays a good two-way game, and is rarely out of position. Desnoyers blocks shots, gets into the passing lanes, provides high energy, and simply plays the game the right way. Let’s hope is success continues for Team Canada’s sake and his.
