That’s right folks it’s that time again for another episode of The Hockey Writers Ink. The show where the writers are fresh off the presses and the ink is not yet dry! In this episode, myself and Steel touch on two glaring issues which I wrote about this week that concern the Flyers.
During the first segment we’ll discuss my first article “A Backup Plan for The Flyers If Nolan Patrick Can’t Go and Morgan Frost Isn’t Quite Ready.” This is a hot topic for sure, given the uncertainty of just when the Flyers’ center Nolan Patrick will be able to return to the starting lineup on a full-time basis. Plus, the fact that both Flyers’ head coach Alain Vigneault and general manager Chuck Fletcher chose to send Morgan Frost back down last season and brought in help at the trade deadline instead of just bringing him back up. Might it then be a smart idea to bring in some insurance just in case these two talented players aren’t quite up to par at the start of the season?

In the second segment, myself and Steel examine my next article “How Did the Flyers Go From ‘The Broad Street Bullies’ to ‘The Boys who get Bullied on Broad Street?’” Yes, we know the game has changed, but there is still a need for a policeman out on the ice who can offer some protection to the teams’ star players against all of the Tom Wilson’s of the league; and to be quite blunt, sadly this team just does not have one of those anymore.
So sit back: The keyboard is off and the press box is closed, but the mic is just getting warmed up!
