The Flyers have eight prospects that play hockey in the NCAA, while six of them played this past weekend. Most NCAA hockey teams kick off their seasons this past weekend, and flyers prospects really performed well. Here is a breakdown of how each Flyers Prospect performed.

Bobby Brink

With Samu Tuomaala and Tyson Foerster, both snipers, performing well in the Flyers system. Brink needs a big time year at Denver University to prove that he shall not be forgotten in the Flyers system.

He is off to a great start, as Brink potted two goals and registered two assists in two games played this past weekend. Brink was also a +5 for the weekend. He needed this good start, and he delivered.

Ronnie Attard

Attard is one of the most underrated prospects in the Flyers system. There are not enough outlets that talk about Attard.

He’s not a flashy right-handed Defenseman, but he gets the job done. Attard finished the weekend with one goal and one assist, and he continued to clear the porch. He finished the weekend with a +1 rating too.

Noah Cates

Noah is the brother of Jackson Cates, who is still fighting for the 13th Forward spot at Flyers Training Camp.

I’m actually surprised that Noah did not sign an entry-level-contract (ELC) with the Flyers this past season. Maybe he likes being the captain of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Most likely he will sign an ELC with the Flyers at years end. His season kicks off Friday against the University of Michigan.

Jay O’ Brien

Talk about a prospect that needs to perform well. Well meet none other than Jay O’ Brien. As mentioned above with prospects Foerster, and Tuomaala, all of whom are goal scorers, on the horizon for the Flyers. O’ Brien really needs to put forth a good season, much like Brink, to prove to Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher and Assistant General Manager Brent Flahr that he should not be forgotten about.

Both Fletcher and Flahr did not draft O’ Brien, so there are no ties to this young Prospect. There are only so many ELC’s that can go around before the Flyers have to evaluate which ones should receive it, and which ones they should cut ties with.

O’ Brien did not register a point this past weekend, and he finished with a -1 rating.

Ty Murchison

Murchison is a Left-Handed Defenseman who played for the US National U18 Team USDP Program. He stands at 6’2 and weighs 192 pounds, and he now plays Arizona State University. Murchison plays with an edge to his game, and really was a blessing he was still on the draft board in the 5th round in 2021. This young 18-year-old defenseman did not tally any points this weekend, but look for him to gain more confidence with the more he plays.

This young native of the United States was born on February 2, 2003 in Corona, CA. Murchison could become the second player from California to play for this proud franchise in recent years, as Cam York is a native the Golden State. He closes gaps well, and can skate.

Bryce Brodzinski

Brodzinski was born August 9, 2000, in Blaine, MN. Following the draft Brodzinski chose to stay close to home at the University of Minnesota. After completing his first season with the Golden Gophers Men’s Ice Hockey team, Brodzinski amassed seven goals, and five assists for a total of 12 points in 37 games played. These numbers were pretty solid for his freshman season.

Looking to right the ship from last season (Only amassing 12 points- 7g,5a), Brodzinski is off to a great start after a great weekend where he amassed three goals and registered one assist, with a +1 rating. Hopefully, he continues to excel in his junior season of hockey.

Jack St. Ivany

The Flyers drafted this California native in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft. He played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, and posted six goals and 30 assists for 36 points in 30 games played. He was also named to the USHL Third All-Star Team that year.

ST. Ivany really needs a big season in his senior season for Boston College, as he formerly played for Yale University. St. Ivany really played well this past weekend tallying one assist and he capped it off with a +3 rating. Not too shabby to open the season.

Gavin Hain

Gavin enters his senior season at the University of North Dakota. Hain needs to sign a contract with the Flyers by August 15, 2022, per Cap Friendly or he becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent.

This is by far his biggest season yet, and Hain will try to make a name for himself within the Flyers organization that is flooded with some up and coming prospects at the Forward position. Hain’s first game of the season is on October 16, 2021 against Bemidji State.

What will happen this season with all these Flyers prospects in the NCAA is anyone’s guess, but we will keep you informed of all these prospects throughout the course of the year.
